काल आयसीसीने आयर्लंड आणि अफगाणिस्तान संघांना पूर्ण सदस्यत्वाचा तसेच कसोटी क्रिकेट खेळणाऱ्या संघांचा दर्जा दिला. आयसीसीने तब्बल १७ वर्षांनी नव्या संघांना हा दर्जा दिला.
याबरोबर अफगाणिस्थान संघ आशियातील ५वा संघ आयसीसीचा पूर्णवेळ सदस्य संघ बनला. यापूर्वी भारत, श्रीलंका, पाकिस्तान, बांग्लादेश संघ आयसीसीचे पूर्णवेळ सदस्य होते.
त्यामुळे साहजिकच अफगाणिस्तान क्रिकेट बोर्डावर मोठ्या प्रमाणात शुभेच्छांचा वर्षाव झाला. त्यातील काही निवडक
